WASHINGTON, November 9, 2013 — Progressives planned their rise to power for decades. Progressives won by losing, moving the dialog forward and preparing the ground for the next battles. Patriots have failed to seize the initiative until recently, leaving us all vulnerable and ill-prepared. Making up for lost time means maximum effort is required.
It seems that all we do is lose. But don’t be discouraged. Battles lost may set us up for a big win next year. It’s amazing what Americans can accomplish, once our hearts and minds are ready.
There is no time left to be gentle with ourselves, much less our foes. We must hit progressives hard with the truths they conveniently ignored. Smug attitudes will eventually give rise to cries of outrage, when they finally realize they have been duped. Waking to strident alarm bells, to the smell of their own homes smoldering with the fires of the concealed fascism they blindly supported is not a pleasant rousing. But it can save lives. And it can save America.
Where should patriots place their efforts today? What issues will win? Where to start?
The issue with the broadest appeal is money. Arcane economic arguments are harder to parse, but rare is the person who does not care about his or her own paycheck and where it eventually goes.
Real but unreported inflation sparks outrage once it’s exposed. Loss of jobs overseas or to illegal aliens at home, steals the prosperity that genuine liberty once created as a matter of routine. Right-to-work states have more and better jobs, and the reason why is clear. Obamacare, unemployment, overregulation damage that kind of momentum, and energy regulation issues hit home as well as they drive up the price of fuel for everyone including those who can least afford it.
The devalued dollar, bailouts for banks too big to fail and quantitative easing cost us as well. The wallet is the wedge issue that wins among most constituencies.
IRS and NSA abuses are the causes that convert cadres of classical liberals from Progressivism to Constitutionalism. Most genuine Americans share one key characteristic: we are big mouths who will not be stifled or silenced. We may not agree with what others say, but will defend to the death their right to say it. We will have our voices heard.
The stink of scandal can sicken followers of the left. How can they adhere to “leaders” who sell them down the river? Fast and Furious, Benghazi, Solyndra—the list goes on and on. Every sell-out is a blow to believers in civil rights and fairness. Appeals to patriotism can reach all but the most hard-core progressives. Such fanatics aside, America is their country, too.
Gun rights advocates are the boldest and baddest of the patriotic vanguard, the individuals who realize our last defense against tyrants is armed force. These patriots have long shown the depth of their commitment to liberty. They have proven time and again they have the will to take it on the chin, and still win. If we lose, their guns may yet save us.
In terms of complete conversion, there is no issue that hits home as hard as abortion. Once someone admits that complicity in the murder of innocent citizens makes us monsters, he or she becomes convinced and committed. Pro-life patriots are the most solid supporters of any cause. They are entirely in agreement with all other patriot issues. Their care and concern comes right from the heart.
Which battle matters most? The only one that encompasses all other issues: restoration of America’s Constitution as the law of the land. But that, for most, is a dry and arcane subject. To draw folks to it means reaching for leverage. Prying people away from untrue beliefs requires use of wedge and crowbar.
Forget pundits and polls. Reject recrimination. The American People are with us, though most don’t know it yet. On these and a score of other issues, we have already almost won. All it will take is one more straw added to the grassfire. Fan the flames of liberty!
