Abortion: Miracle or mass murder

Life, or death? America faces a choice. Photo: wikicommons

WASHINGTON, November 4, 2013 — Abortion is something most people would rather not think about. It is too uncomfortable to contemplate.

For secular Progressives, the debate hinges on a woman’s “right to choose”. For believers in God, the issue is grounded in religious principle regarding sanctity of human life.

America’s founders did not dream up new rights. They merely codified rights that already existed — self-evident rights, natural rights endowed by our Creator, with you free to imagine what that means.

With clear lineage from the Bible to Blackstone, our Bill of Rights makes clear that no person shall be deprived of life without due process of law. Despite the morally unsound arguments of modern medical ethicists, no reasonable person has ever debated the personhood of a born baby.

Babies born prematurely survive with some regularity. Advanced medicine saves an even greater percentage, at many weeks prior to full-term gestation. How can we accept the premise that those humans not yet breathing air are not really human at all?

Where have we heard that argument before? On Friday in Philadelphia, at a pro-life event that featured Lila Rose of Live Action and Sam Rohrer of the Pennsylvania Pastors Network, Eric Metaxas had an answer.

Slavery was acceptable because blacks were “not really human.” Nazi death camps were the ultimate expression of the same dictum applied to Jews. Metaxas, author of best-selling biographies on William Wilberforce and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, is right.

No decent person can coolly condemn another to death without trial for capital crime. Only immanent threat of grievous harm is excepted. Killing demands justification.

Since it is impossible to indict the innocent, old lies must suffice. The mother has a right to choose, but not the infant. Certainly not the father. “Choice” means only the right to choose life or death for the unborn, with federal power promoting this evil ideal. They are not babies, not citizens, not really human. They are mere clumps of cells, despite beating hearts, no more than parasites or warts. This is despite their ability to dream and feel pain.

The event showcased a growing concern, a well-crafted coalition, and a new media campaign. With progressives in almost complete control of major media outlets, the message is often unheard. Direct and sophisticated commercial ads and social media will be used to get the word out. Test marketing has proven the effectiveness of this message in substantially reducing the numbers of abortions.

What is the message? Not what the main-stream media want you to hear. They frame the Pro-Life movement as fanatical, misguided at best, unconcerned with helping families after abortion has been prevented. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Ministries provide information and care through birth, and for years afterward. They mentor families, and help them find jobs.

Philadelphia kills half of all its babies. They are mostly black, and entirely blameless.

The counterculture has devolved into a culture of lies. It has become a cult of death. Patriots work to counter this. For what they do to the weakest Americans today, they can and likely will do to the rest of us, tomorrow. The slippery slope suggested so many years ago, discounted by the left, has come to pass. In their eyes, individuals have no worth, unless they “progress.”
