Government oppression: So you're awake, now what?

Mad as hell and not going to take it anymore? Good. Photo: AP Photo

WASHINGTON, December 10, 2013 — Well, now you’re awake. Scratching your head, slightly disoriented, wondering how you could have slept through the obvious alarms for so long. Wondering what on God’s green earth anyone can do about the mess we’re in?

It is not enough to congratulate yourself that now you finally realize the truth. Not enough to stop actively or passively assisting those who would usurp liberty. Not even enough to go out among the great unwashed and trumpet newfound revelation to the masses. Nope. Won’t cut it.

Is it too late, you wonder? Is there anywhere you can go to get away from the leviathan of Statism? Any place left on earth to escape the tentacles of the NSA, the tendrils of the IRS? Nope.

America was it, baby. And it still is. We are, as the man said, the last hope of mankind. Feel depressed?

Don’t be. We are the same as we ever were. Don’t believe me? Think that Americans have become a bunch of lazy louts and layabouts, lounging on the sofa, scrounging for snacks with SNAP cards?

We are. But that’s only skin-deep. Scratch beneath the surface and you’ll find folks just as stubborn and ornery as ever, full of vitriol and vinegar, ready for anything, itching for a fight. Insistent on their right to live life as they want, yearning for opportunity to make something of that life.

Although the situation is dire, it is not hopeless. Why do you suppose they have yet to pull the trigger and unleash the hounds? There is good reason why those who would be kings have yet to dare ultimate seizure of all we hold dear. They fear us. And with good reason.

We have the power, though we don’t seem to know it. We are not split in twain, though they would have us believe it. We are an awesome force, unstoppable if we only apply ourselves, and reject division and distraction. Americans can do anything, once we set their minds and hearts to the task.

We are not only the last hope, and the best hope, but the only hope. Let the light of liberty gutter and die here, and it is gone everywhere. With brave, new tech allowing computerized control of communications, weapons none can fight, and even remote control of the human mind on the near horizon, we may be the last that ever knew freedom. Will you sentence your children to slavery?

Nothing you face now is one tenth as bad as what you will face, what your family will face, if we don’t stop them now. This is the time you dreamed of or dreaded, maybe both. This is the fight that will either be forgotten forever if we lose, or remembered by posterity with fond reverence for their forbears for saving freedom. And the neat thing is, you get to choose! And that is the key.

Which brings me to that four-letter word, “work”. Nothing was ever accomplished by wishing. Knowing is only the first step. Too bad if you’re busy, have a bad back, can’t spell words to save your life. So what if you have halitosis or hemorrhoids. Who cares if you have a job that’s hanging by a thread (like mine), a family that demands more time, bad health, poverty, or any other problem. Everyone else has problems, too. Think our Founders had easy lives?

So suck it it, grit it out, and get ready to rumble. Sorry won’t do.

Oh, and not choosing is not an option. You are either with us, or with them. Sorry, that’s the way it is.

So get off your duffs, and get to work. Do something. Get educated, get active, get involved. Like, yesterday. As another man said, you have nothing to lose but your chains.
