MICHIGAN, May 7th, 2012 — The NAACP recently released their Annual Report Card for the first session of the 112th Congress. The “civil rights” organization gave every Republican member of the U.S. Congress and U.S. Senate a resounding “F” on what the group says are key issues of concern to Black Americans.
Among those issues are funding for health care reform, judicial nominations, deep budget cuts, job creation, and criminal justice reform.
The NAACP alleges to be a “non-partisan” civil rights organization.
For clarity, that means they claim to have absolutely no party affiliation, bias, or designation. However, when one examines their Report Card for the 112th Congress, it becomes quite clear that they are decidedly pro-Democrat.
Moreover, contrary to their propaganda, they are overwhelmingly anti-constitution, which gives substance to all alleged civil rights legislation.
Unalienable rights are those which God gave to man upon our creation. This fundamental truth is declared in the Declaration of Independence and protected by the U.S. Constitution. In effect, the government is designed to protect our God given rights. Not government given rights.
While the NAACP attempts to indict Republicans for anti-civil rights legislation, a close examination might reveal that it has taken clear steps against the God given or unalienable rights of those Americans they claim to defend.
In 1954, in Brown v. Board of Education, the Supreme Court ruled that the “separate but equal doctrine” of the U.S. School system was unconstitutional. The court cited the psychological, sociological, and academic consequences of segregation based on ethnicity, deciding that Black Americans ought to have a right to place their children in the school of their choice. The NAACP, at that time, was the leading voice in the battle for school choice, even helping to create private schools for Black Americans. Times have changed.
In 2011, the N.A.A.C.P. took a stance in direct opposition to Brown v. Board of Education. They joined with teachers’ unions in a lawsuit which sought to prevent twenty charter schools from opening or expanding in buildings shared with traditional public schools. The impact of limiting school choice is that children are segregated all over again, usually by class. This disproportionately impacts Black children.
“The GOP is in a no-win situation with the NAACP because they’ve essentially become an extension of the Democratic Party,” said Ron Miller, associate dean and assistant professor of government at Liberty University, and author of SELLOUT: Musing from Uncle Tom’s Porch.
“Even House Speaker John Boehner’s leadership in reviving the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, which has strong support and proven success in D.C.’s Black community, would get him an ‘F’ because their Democratic Party benefactors, specifically the teachers’ unions and the education bureaucracy, oppose parental choice in education.”
The Black unemployment rate was reported to be 13.6% in January 2012. Nevertheless, the unemployment rate for blacks is still far higher than the rate for other ethnic groups, as well as the nation as a whole. The national unemployment rate is currently 8.1%.
The Democrat Party has repeatedly opposed Republican-backed legislation that is designed to create a business climate which would benefit Black Americans in particular. This includes Repeal of the Davis Bacon Act, which continues to discriminate against Blacks in construction. Repeal of Minimum Wage laws have been opposed by the Democrat Party, though minimum wage hikes have the most egregious effect on Black teen employment rates. Yet, the NAACP gave Democrat Congressional and Senate members a passing grade.
Rev. C.L. Bryant, Founder of the national movement One Nation Back to God (www.onenationbacktoGod.com) and Independent filmmaker of the documentary Runaway Slave, weighed in on the NAACP’s report card:
“The NAACP report card, some would say reflects a simple minded attitude, toward the reality of politics for Black people in the year 2012. Some would say that the report card reveals possible stupidity to the abyss looming before Black folks as to the future unemployment rate and fuel cost. As a former president of a Branch of this once venerable organization, I say, that this is not evidence of their simple minds or stupidity but proof that the NAACP, a once non-partisan civil rights champion have totally sold their souls to the Democrat party.”
The Pew Hispanic Center has found that high unemployment rates among Black Americans are partially attributed to the large number of low-skilled immigrants, especially illegal immigrants. Yet, Democrat officials, with the apparent approval of the N.A.A.C.P., support amnesty, a policy that clearly sabotages the struggle for equality that legal Black citizens have fought for.
To the chagrin of the N.A.A.C.P., Republicans have opposed Obama care. One of the reasons Republicans reject Obama care is because, due to this legislation, insurance plans, forced to lower deductibles and include pre-existing conditions, will increase demand for medical care.
The combination of an increase in medical demand and a decrease in medical supply will drive up costs, ultimately raising premiums for all Americans. This hike shall be felt among Black Americans disproportionately, as this demographic tends to be the larger percentage of those who are economically marginalized.
In the final analysis, the N.A.A.C.P.’s 112th Annual Report Card is a confirmation of its bias towards the Democrat Party. Moreover, it is an indictment of its support of failing policies which are a direct affront to unalienable rights of Black Americans.
