The hypocrisy of Jim Carrey anti-gun tweets, "Cold Dead Hands"

Twitter verse cries foul over Jim Carrey's anti-gun, anti - gun owner tweets and comedy short. Photo: Jim Carrey as Stanley Ipkiss

WASHINGTON, March 25, 2013 – The Assault Gun ban was down graded to an amendment last week proving that America, including the men and women on the hill, are not going to challenge the NRA / 2nd Amendment proponents.

But out of Twitter comes actor Jim Carey and an avalanche of tweets taking on an ant- gun – gun owner position:

But Carrey is nothing but a master at marketing, and it all promotes his new satirical take on the Hee Haw television show and the gun debate in the Funny or Die skit, “Cold Dead Hands” a reference to the late actor and NRA supporter Charlton Heston’s 2000 NRA Convention speech.

Within the comedy short Carey first takes on the role of Charlton Heston, in typical pro-NRA mode asking “Who would be laughing if it weren’t for the patriots who answer the call of freedom?”

The skit goes on to introduce the musical act of Lonsesome Earl and the Clutterbusters in which he mocks Charleton Heston and gun owners with a backup band.

The band, comprised of “Ghandi, John Lennon and Abe Lincoln,” all providing a backup,  singing they will be removing the “gun from his cold dead hand..”

“(The angels) wouldn’t take him up to heaven like he planned because they couldn’t pry that gun from his cold dead hand.”

And a buxom, daisy duke and blonde pig tails wearing, hay bale sitting young lade shows a line drawing of male genitalia with an over lay of a “gun” on top of the penis.

“You’re a big big man with a little bitty gland, so you need something bigger with a hairpin trigger.”

The whole thing ends with a Sam Elliott mock that lets us know that “biting social satire goes down smooth…”

Carey is genius. Hyper-Funny. Hysterical. Howling at the moon laugh inducing.

But we have to ask: Remember Stanley Ipkiss in The Mask?

And now Carrey has donned the role of Sargent Stars and Stripes in the ultra-violent Kick Ass 2. One has to see the familiarity between the characterization of Charlton Heston and Carrey’s upcoming movie role.

And while the Sarge doesn’t use a gun, wielded in the wrong hand, bats can kill.
