WEST PALM BEACH, Fl, March 16, 2013 – Iconic rapper Lil Wayne is recovering in a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a seizure while working on a music video for Nicki Minaj’s new single, High School.

Original reporting suggested Wayne was “receiving last rights” and in “critical condition,” but his record label and private publicist today officially announced is recovering well.

Sarah Cunningham, a representative of Wayne’s label Young Money officially confirmed today that Lil Wayne did suffer a seizure but that he “is recovering.”  Wayne’s personal publicist, Kia Selby supported the announcement, stating, “Lil Wayne is doing well.”

Yesterday, President of Young Money Entertainment Mack Maine, who sources confirmed was at the hospital, tweeted, “Wayne is alive and well! We watching the Syracuse game…thaks for the prayers and concern..he will update you all soon. #love.”

Another tweet on Wayne’s Twitter site, reportedly written by the musician, said, “I’m good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love.”

Although hospital staff refused to comment, citing privacy concerns, an unnamed hospital source did tell the Communities the information from the label “seems consistent” with what he is seeing at the hospital.

Wayne has suffered in the past for seizure-like symptoms.  In October 2012, he was hospitalized for those symptoms and doctors prescribed anti-seizure medication.  There are also rumors of other hospital visits to deal with seizure-like symptoms.

Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Carter, is one of the most successful rap artists in the world.  He started his career at only 9, in a duo with rapper B.G. called The B.G.’z.  Wayne, who grew up in the 17th ward of New Orleans, was the youngest member of Cash Money Records.

Since his debut, Wayne has gained continuous accolades.  His first solo album, The Block is Hot, went double platinum.  He became President of Cash Money Records in 2005 and founded Young Money Entertainment.  His sixth studio album, Tha Carter III was nominated for eight Grammy awards, and his documentary, Tha Carter, was featured at the Sundance film festival in 2009.

Wayne is also known for collaborations with numerous artists and energetic public appearances.

In March 2010, Lil Wayne served a one year prison sentence on Rikers Island on a weapons charge.  He has been arrested on other occasions for possessions of controlled substances, but did not serve jail time on those charges.

Lil Wayne is due to release his 10th album, “I Am Not a Human Being,” on March 26.
