VIENNA, VA – 1980’s girl band The Go-Go’s return to Wolf Trap this Thursday, June 13.

Like other rock acts of the era, The Go-Gos have battled addiction, lead singer Belinda Carlisle recently stating shes “lucky to be alive with her nose intact” after a fierce 30-year cocaine addiction.

The Go-Go’s disbanded in 1985 with Belinda Carlisle releasing her Gold-certified solo album debut, Belinda, Released in 1986, the eponymous album featured the #3 hit single Mad About You. Carlisle’s 1987 Heaven on Earth and the #1 single, Heaven Is A Place On Earth, #2 hit I Get Weak, and the Top 10 Circle in the Sand having the album reach Platinum certification in record time.

Runaway Horses (1989) was Carlisle’s Gold-certified third solo album, including the hits Leave a Light On and Summer Rain

In 2011, The Go-Go’s reunited to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their debut album, Beauty and the Beat. Keeping to true to the adage of never say never, the group’s 2010/11 “Farewell Tour” was hardly a goodbye as it was followed by the 2011/12 Girls Gone Wild tour and now a stop on Thursday at the Filene Center show. The fourth show on a 21-day tour that runs through mid-July, fans can anticipate a high-energy show.

News is that Kathy Valentine has left, due to irreconcilable differences with her band mates, and is being replaced by Abby Travis, who has previously played with other 80’s girl-band favorite, The Bangles.
