WASHINGTON, February 17, 2012 – Starting tomorrow morning, Saturday, February 18, 2012 Communities Writers will be watching the Black Entertainment Television network, The Homegoing of Whitney Houston,  (check your local listings) while commenting and sharing thoughts with readers in a Live Chat starting at 11:00am EST.

The 48 year-old mother, daughter, sister and diva passed away one week ago tomorrow, and her death is still under investigation.

But tomorrow will be a celebration of her life and music as the woman, beloved by many, is laid to her final rest.

Scheduled to sing at Whitney Houston’s funeral are Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Alica Keys. Clive Davis, Ms. Houston’s longtime friend and mentor will speak. Gospel singer and family friend Marin Winans will give the homily.

Ms. Houston’s body is being flown to New Jersey on actor/producer Tyler Perry’s private plane. Other celebreties reported to be attending include Elton John, Bill Cosby, Oprah Winfrey, Jay-Z and Beyonce.

Kevin Costner, Ms. Houston’s co-star in the 1992 film The Bodyguard, will speak.  Ms. Houston’s version of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” as the films lead song was a worldwide success appearing on the Billboard charts at number 68 of the “Greatest Songs of All Time.”

Aretha Franklin, who is identified as Ms. Houston’s Godmother spoke of Ms. Houston being set for a comeback after stints in rehab with her role in the theatrical release of “Sparkle.”

Appearing on the Today Show, Ms. Franklin spoke of the critic’s response to Ms. Houston not being able to hit some of the notes in her iconic song during her 2010 tour.

"The audience was very rude but she stood there with the heart of a champion, night after night," Franklin said.

And unfortunately that heart is stilled, though her voice will go on.

A young Whitney “Nippy” Houston will be celebrated and remembered at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, N.J. where she first sang in the church choir.
