CHICAGO, August 3, 2012 — It’s almost time for Lollapalooza, the three-day music festival taking over Chicago’s historic Grant Park.
An estimated 200,000 people will be in attendance. The lineup features established headliners like The Black Keys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack White, Florence + The Machine and B.O.B. The depth is the attraction though. There are over 100 major acts from dustup to hip-hop, from indie to electronic.
More importantly it has proven to be a launching pad for artists on the verge of mass popularity. Expect breakout performances from Passion Pit, M83, NERO, Calvin Harris, The Tallest Man On Earth, FUN, The White Panda, Alabama Shakes, J. Cole and Childish Gambino.
If you don’t have a ticket, I have created the next best thing. Lollapalooza 2012 is a Spotify playlist that includes the best cuts from over 100 acts in attendance.
If you want to discover new music, this is for you. If you want something new to listen to at the gym, I recommend Madeon and The White Panda. They don’t disappoint. If you don’t have Spotify, download it. It’s free.
Consider this a thank you for reading my column these past three months. I appreciate it. If you have a favorite new track, share it in the comments below.
Happy Friday.
