Joe Biden's "Buy a shotgun" bad PSA advice

You don't need an AR-15. It's harder to aim, it's harder to use, and in fact, you don't need 30 rounds to protect yourself. Photo: Shotguns

WASHINGTON, February 20, 2013 – “Joeisms.”   After four years of insane, if not asinine, statements, like telling Black Virginians that Romney wanted to put them back in chains or calling Republicans “squealing pigs,” we think it can’t get any worse.

Now Joe is out on the trail pushing President Barack Obama’s gun control plan.

Responding to a question posted by a Facebook user during an online townhall with Parent’s Magazine, he admits to having not one, but two shotguns locked away in a cabinet.

It seems both the President and the Vice President have the qualifications necessary to join the NRA.

“We live in an area that’s wooded and secluded,” Biden said. “I said, Jill, if there’s ever a problem just walk out on the balcony here …take that double-barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.”

“Buy a shotgun,” he said.

Have you ever shot a shotgun?

It is not easier to aim, or shoot than an AR-15, as good ole’ Joe says, but that is beside the point.

The point is the recoil would probably knock the diminutive Mrs. Biden on her keester, leaving her with a black eye or broken nose, as well as defenseless, if she missed that intruder.

Joe is right in that the double barrel is not the weapon of the quick killing mass murderer or even the kids killing each other in Chicago

But that is not what is at question here.  It is Joe’s advice to go “get a shotgun.”

“I promise you whoever’s coming in is not gonna,” Biden said. “You don’t need an AR-15 (assault rifle). It’s harder to aim. It’s harder to use and in fact you don’t need 30 rounds to protect yourself.”

And yep Joe is again probably right. No, no one really needs an AR-15, well no one other than Ted Nugent. But then Ted is not going to go on a murder spree either.

All that said, Uncle Joe’s PSA to get a shotgun is probably ill-advised advice.

There are better home protection choices, I am sure, something between a Stoeger and the Bushmaster.

Possibly large dogs and a good alarm system. Because unless she has been given classes and knows how to shoot that 12-gauge, Mrs. Biden should not take Joe’s advice.

She could get hurt.  And we do not want people getting hurt. Enough people are getting hurt.

Joe, with all due respect, please stop talking.
