Before assuming the mantle of editor, before getting to know writers and their minds intimately, before reading, listening and watching the news, the social networks and online media all the time, I thought the editor's "letter" was well, pompus. Now I know its because our viewpoint, usually ignored for the writers point of view, is so personal.
