ST. MICHAELS, MD, December 13, 2013 — The Inn at Perry Cabin an historic mansion that rambles along the waterfront on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, is the quintessential romantic getaway. It is so perfectly romantic that it was used as the location of the big wedding in the movie The Wedding Crashers.
But long before it became a luxury hideaway, it was home to Samuel Hambleton, an aide-de-camp to Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, who was famous for his declaration “We have met the enemy, and they are ours.” After serving with Perry in the War of 1812, Hambleton built Perry Cabin to resemble the Commodore’s cabin on the flagship U.S.S. Niagara.
Over the years, the resort has expanded beyond the original mansion. Today, there are 78 guestrooms (30 of them suites), a spa, a pool, a charming pub with a wood-burning fireplace, and an award-wining restaurant called Sherwood Landing.
From the moment you turn on to the long linden-lined drive, you feel as if you are approaching a refined country estate. And you are.
Rooms vary from charming old-world nooks outfitted with antiques in the most historic part of the property to clean lines and neutral palates in the sprawling contemporary suites with balconies overlooking the waterfront.
This winter the Inn at Perry Cabin is offering a romantic package for $660 per couple. Traveling with Fido? No problem. Pets stay free.
