Weylan Deaver grew up, at least for part of his childhood, on a Fort Worth street named Deaver Drive (after his grandfather), and thought it a fitting column title.

Following an intensive two years at the Southwest School of Bible Studies (Austin), and three semesters at Texas State University (San Marcos), he made his way to Tennessee and Freed-Hardeman University (Henderson), where he graduated with a B.A. degree in Bible (with a minor in Philosophy), summa cum laude and a member of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. He later earned a Master's degree from the Bear Valley Bible Institute (Denver). He has served as a moderator at several public religious debates, and is on the distance learning faculty of Tennessee Bible College.

Writings have appeared in various publications, including Sufficient Evidence (the journal of the Warren Christian Apologetics Center) and his blogs (biblicalnotes.com and wdeaver.wordpress.com). He serves as minister for the Sherman Drive Church of Christ in Denton, Texas. His wife and he have four children whom they homeschool. He enjoys hunting and songwriting.
