Twitter users threaten to murder George Zimmerman if he's acquitted

FLORIDA, July 2, 2013 — On a cold late February evening in 2012, unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was fatally shot by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman, who claims he acted in self-defense. Since then, Martin’s history of truancy, firearms-related issues, and handling marijuana,  among other things, has come to light.

After a special prosecutor was commissioned, Zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder and is currently standing trial.

Evidence indicates that Zimmerman suffered head injuries the night Martin died, though exactly how and why remains a mystery. What can be certain, however, is that the shooting’s aftermath has been highly polarizing. It has also drawn considerable attention to the oft-overlooked central Florida port city of Sanford, where the shooting took place.

Last week, several disturbing Twitter posts from pro-Trayvon Martin activists were reposted at Twitchy, a widely read right-leaning blog. The posts declared many peoples’ desire to bring mortal harm in Zimmerman’s direction should he be found not guilty.

“(****) it. i’ll kill Zimmerman myself,” someone with the username Angela says.

“(********) Don West. (****) George Zimmerman . I’ll kill both them (******),” LOE Lys . writes.

“Man (****) Zimmerman ill kill his (***** ***),” proclaims〽F.E.W.B.

Im Known As…… describes Zimmerman in an odd fashion, but his (or her) intent is nonetheless clear: “(****) that (*****) Zimmerman, I’ll kill that (****) myself”.

“Watching the Zimmerman Trial. If he don’t get life ill kill him myself,” declares — in perhaps the mother of all ironies — Love.

A seemingly energetic individual called iWannaBAhBILLIONAIRE exclaims that “Trayvon Martin need justice ! Gimme me tha pistol ill kill Zimmerman myself!”

“If Zimmerman don’t go to jail ill kill him for $20,” a Twitterer by the name of YOUNG KAREEEEEM announces.

Plotted acts of savagery are not limited to George Zimmerman, however. A great deal of pro-Martin Twitter messengers have an entire race locked dead in their sights.

“This Zimmerman (****) so AGGY just lock his ass up cause if they don’t imma kill a white person and they better let me go,” states one of them.

“ima kill a white person in self defense if Zimmerman go free lol on everything,” asserts another.

“If George Zimmerman win I’m gonna kill a fat white boy dat look lik George Zimmerman I swear lol,” remarks CREEPLIFE.

“If Zimmerman win, I’m gonna go kill a white a kid by mistake,” ……. says.

Finally, a person whose vulgar username is outdone by his or her toxic ideas writes this: “If Zimmerman get off, Ima go kill a white boy and use the same story he did…”

This is the cold, jagged, and unpolished face of many who avidly despise Zimmerman. Since such raw hatred is virtually impossible to sugarcoat or selectively interpret, it seems that certain media sources have neglected reporting the matter altogether.

Considering how rampant press bias has run during the Martin shooting’s aftermath, does this honestly come as a surprise to anyone?
