CHICAGO, July 14, 2011 — Remember that hilarous movie, "Dave," starring Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver? The film was about a corrupt president who fell into a coma after a bout of sex with his White House aide. To avoid the explosive scandal, the president's aides hire a temp agency worker (Kevin Kline), who doubles as a bumbling presidential impersonator in his spare time, to replace him.

But something interesting happens along the way. When Klein and his accountant buddy spend all night going over the federal budget,  making cuts to all the waste and silliness - the Cabinet is in shock the next day. But with the press corps watching, cameras rolling, they grit their teeth and grudingly nod their assent to their "President." Klein's Dave has got them where he wants them.

In the process of posing as the Commander-in-Chief, Kline's character has actually become a better president than the real one.

Why?

Because he's real. He's human. He doesn't have his hand in the till. He doesn't give a hoot about special interests, or lobbyists, or his "base." He's fair. Honest. He wants to help as many people as possible just...because. Darn it, he cares. The political fairytale is one of my favorite films. But it is indeed a fairytale.

But wouldn't it be nice if real life were really like that?

Well, perhaps here is America's opportunity.

Meet Reggie Brown, the controversial Barack Obama personator (and real-life Dave) who wrecked havoc at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans a few weeks ago. He has an important message to share that involves us not taking ourselves too seriously and trying to find common ground...through humor. If you've seen him perform "I am Barack" to the tune of "I Will Survive," you also know he has an "interesting way" of sharing that message.

Yes, Brown's got a funny bone and - whether you agree with him or not - one thing is for certain: Barack Obama has created at least one job since he was elected - Reggie's.

"He's definitely stimulated my economy!" says Brown.

Here's my full unedited interview with the infamous funny man Reggie Brown himself who, in wake of his experience at the GOP conference, offers his reflections on American politics, political correctness, and why we all just need a bigger funny bone:

And here is part II of the interview:
