President Obama, you own this downgrade (not the tea party) VIDEO

President Downgrade is blaming everyone for the credit downgrade – including the tea party. When will this whining crybaby con of a President get his due? Photo: AP

CHICAGO, August 8, 2011 - Thank you, President Downgrade – er, I mean Obama. You’ve made history once again. Our prized sterling AAA rating – that we, as a country, have held for 70 years – is gone.

More Obama finger pointing.

For the first time in our nation’s history we’ve been reduced to an AA+ credit rating. That ties America's good faith and credit with New Zealand and – wait for it – Belgium.

Our once proud superpower status as the richest nation in the world is now relegated to the ranks of the waffle and clog makers. Someone pass the syrup.

Now I’m a fan of waffles as much as anyone but our credit score is even lower than the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein. I passed it once on the Eurail.

Someone kindly patted my shoulder and pointed out the window, “Look, that’s Lichtenstein. If you blink you’ll miss it.” I blinked.

So, apparently, did you.

President Obama, you were elected to fix the economy; well, you fixed it alright. With two years with Democrat majorities in both houses of Congress, you did nothing to tackle the debt.

You just kept spending.

Since taking office, the debt has increased from $10.6 trillion to $14.2 trillion in less than three years. That’s an increase of $1.6 trillion in debt per year. Three times faster than George W. Bush.

President Obama, you failed stimulus cost taxpayers an additional $666 billion.  You promised jobs but 13.9 million Americans are still out of work. Your supporters say that you’ve accomplished so much in such a short time.

You definitely have. And you are definitely a strange one, Mr. President.

You warned us that the U.S. would lose its top credit rating if we didn’t urge Congress to raise the debt ceiling. But you were wrong, Mr. President. It wasn’t just about the debt ceiling.

It was about the debt. According to writer Eric Golub, S&P Downgrades Obama presidency:

"Standard and Poors wanted a budget deal with four trillion dollars in real spending cuts. They made it clear that the main cuts had to come from entitlements."

You don’t just have egg on your face on this one; you have an omelet.

The world’s credit ratings agencies were waiting for a sign of maturity from the U.S. government. They were waiting for you to stop acting like a Credit Card-in-Chief or an Absent-in-Chief and start acting like a Commander-in-Chief. They wanted to see $4 trillion in real cuts.

They wanted to see entitlement reform. Not $2.4 trillion in additional borrowing.

During the debt ceiling debate, you offered no plan of your own. Instead, you were noticeably absent from the debate, made excuses, hurled accusations at Republicans (and especially those Tea Party hobbit-like folk), or just plain lied about what was taking place. That’s not really leading, Mr. President. That’s hiding.

This weekend, I saw that you and your desperate Democrat henchmen were in full-court spin mode still trying to blame everyone else for the downgrade.

On “Meet the Press,” Sen. John Kerry called the crisis a “tea party downgrade.” Former White House advisor David Axelrod also lamented the “tea party downgrade.”

And just days ago, your pet journalists in the media trotted out more anti-tea party rhetoric during the debt crisis.

On MSNBC, Steve Rattner claimed “They’re (the Tea Party Republicans) strapped with dynamite in the middle of Times Square at rush hour.”

Others like Bloomberg’s Margaret Carlson also seemed obsessed with pyrotechnics. “They’ve strapped explosives to the Capitol,” said Carlson.

Looks like everyone was on their White House speaking points. Nice job, Mr. President.

Goebbels would be proud.

Your Administration has called for sensitivity for radical jihadists - but you seem to have no problem calling those who want to cut government spending terrorists. Cutting spending must be truly "terrifying" for a government hack.

But here’s the problem. This is your downgrade. You can spin, demagogue, cry, whine, throw temper tantrums, pontificate, and finger point all you want. You made it. You own it.

We allow our Presidents a certain amount of latitude for Beltway Bull. In Washington, it’s called spin. But there is a point of no return – where the spin becomes a lie, a shell game, a fraud.

Before his resignation, President Nixon said “People have got to know whether or not their president's a crook. Well, I'm not a crook.”

Well, People also have to know whether their President is huckster, a shyster, and a con.

For once in your fundraiser-drive life, take responsibility for the downgrade Mr. President. That might be another history-making event.

I know you like those.
