Election '12: Take back the victory mosque, formerly known as the White House

President Obama hasn't been honest about who he is and what he believes. A recent poll found that more than 20 percent of Americans now believe he is also a Muslim. What do you believe?

Bill Kelly’s Truth Squad is all about truth, justice and all things America. In both humorous and reported pieces, we take the side of those who have been continually shut out by the mainstream media. The media seeks to justify this position of dishonesty by perpetuating a storyline of bigotry and prejudice in which its opponents are backwards, illiterate, stupid, hateful and dangerous.

This has been the case from the beginning of the Obama administration with anyone who has opposed the president, a group that now includes the families of 9/11 victims and the more than 64 percent of all Americans who oppose the mosque being built near Ground Zero based on principle.

Because we have a president, a Congress and a media who march in lock-step against the concerns, wishes and aspirations of the American people, today’s column is a call to action, not just for the 2010 elections, but beyond.

CALL TO ACTION 2012: TAKE BACK THE VICTORY MOSQUE, Formerly Known as the White House

I am issuing a personal call to action to the American people—to conservatives, to tea party supporters, to independents and independent-thinkers and to Democrats disillusioned by their party’s fall from its once proud days as the party of John F. Kennedy, a Catholic and strong anti-Communist: In 2010, we need to take back both houses of Congress from those that forced through Obamacare, government take-overs of financial institutions and other American companies.

In 2011, we need to band together fully with those that believe in the power of freedom and the American way of life.

In 2012: We need to take back the Victory Mosque (formerly known as “the White House”).

Now, some on the political left might not be happy about the idea that I am calling President Obama’s temporary residence on Pennsylvania Avenue his “Victory Mosque.”

My most sincere apologies.

However, I believe many Americans have already come to the conclusion that the president is not what he pretends to be.

During the 2008 General Election, he pretended to be a political centrist in order to get elected, America being a center-right nation.

He was not what he pretended to be.

He pretended to be against the TARPs (a euphemism for “bailout”) for those who rigged the system and benefited from subprime loan policies (Fannie, Freddie, and consumers too -- not just Wall Street). But in fact, he was not against bailouts, ushering in another massive $819 billion dollar "stimulus" package in his first act as president. A stimulus of waste and corrupt, pocket-lining political paybacks belying his campaign’s constant refrain, “Change is Coming.”

What kind of change would be coming next? In February of 2009, the people wondered and worried. What had they done?

Barack Obama pretended to be a president of the people. A president that would listen to their concerns and would act solely on their behalf, without bending to insider Beltway will. To date, he has not been this president. He has ignored the people at every turn. He has bypassed their U.S. Constitution, written by Jefferson’s hand to affirm, not grant, the people’s power. This document has served us well for more than 200 years as a bold warning to those that seek to trample on both the God-given and natural rights of men – inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

By contrast with our Constitution’s clear, simple language, this president and Congress devise bills thousands of pages long filled with bureaucratic nonsense, donor loopholes and legalese intended to deflect, confuse and confound.

The lawmakers don’t read the bills. They bury the text, hoping to sneak past public scrutiny. The motto they live by: If we hide it, they won’t fight it.

The president and the Congress wait until after midnight, on weekends, when the phones are off, to pass their unpopular measures. Or worse, they forget the voting. They play with the rule of law. They subvert it to breaking. They just do whatever they feel like. There is no Rule. There is no Law. This president, instead, has acted based on ideology alone. He is a president of politics, not a president of the people.

If this is the case, if the president has misrepresented himself at every turn--who he is and what he believes--then, why should we, the people, take him at his word when he says he is a Christian?  Can we believe that he is against Islamic extremism? Should we believe that he believes in the American way of life, of freedom? That he has pride in America and what she stands for? That he blames radical Islam for the attacks on 9/11? And that he holds in great value and dignity the forced burial place of those that perished at the World Trade Center site?

The president’s dishonesty about who he is, what he plans to do and what he really believes may have influenced the results of a recent poll issued this week. A poll conducted by the Pew Research Center, revealed that 20 percent, more Americans than ever before, believe that the president is a Muslim. The number of Americans who believe Mr. Obama is really a Christian has fallen from 50 percent to 34 percent.

In the landscape of what happened on the unthinkable tragedy 9/11 and the view of American haters, abroad and at home, the discussion about being a Muslim is an important, almost pivotal one. The American Muslim community has done little, to nothing, to reassure most Americans which side it is truly on. Now enters President Obama into the discussion and we have to question which side he is truly on. Is he on the side of our enemies or is he on our side? When he went across to Europe as president of the United States and apologized for America, what side was he on?

This discussion is more than about what Muslim schools he went to as a boy in Jakarta, Indonesia. It is more about whether his father was a Muslim or whether all his early influences where socialist, Marxist or Muslim. It is more than being given the name Barack Hussein Obama. It is more than about him actively choosing Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s church of “GD America” and its black liberation theology when he came to Chicago, when he was becoming active in community organizer politics.

Or is it?

For me, the discussion of who Barack Obama really is and what he believes starts and ends in Chicago. We can all argue about whether he began life being indoctrinated as a Muslim and the radical influences of his family. The President, his handlers and the media have tried their best to muddy those waters thoroughly. But Barack Obama chose Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s church for political more than theological reasons.

Wright’s church, like a number of others on Chicago’s south side, is a tax shelter for political activity masquerading as a place of Christian community. It is a church for political organizers and political organizing. Born and raised on the Chicago’s Southside, and growing up two blocks from Louis Farrakhan’s house, I know that much to be true.

I’ve watched the corner preachers with their amazing speeches; those street hustlers with their booming oratory skills pretending to be Christians. I’ve walked the same streets, passed the same churches, and know those neighborhoods. In other words, I saw Barack Obama coming.

I don’t believe Barack Obama is for real. In Chicago, it served his political purpose to say he was a Christian. In the 2008, election, it served his political purpose to say he was a Christian when debating Senator John McCain at Saddleback. It made Obama seem more “centrist.” It made us forget about his past associations with terrorists like William Ayers and groups like ACORN and Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Given the President’s strange sensitivity to the Muslim world, his outreach to Muslims abroad, and at home, and, most recently, his stance on the WTC Mosque, which most Americans oppose, Americans don't know now what to think. The real issue with this president is... we don’t really know him.

We just know what he stands for, based on his actions, and it isn’t what we stand for. This is the reason why the American people are turning their backs on him in the polls. We know these things to be self-evident: He definitely seems to have socialist leanings. He definitely appears to have a disregard and disdain for the U.S. Constitution and America’s place in the world. Moreover, his history in Rev. Wright's radicalized Christian church and sensitivity towards all things Muslim, suggest that he is not telling the full truth about his real beliefs and sympathies as well. Regardless of any of this, however, Barack Obama's actions since becoming President of the United States, has sent a strong message to radical Muslims here and abroad: victory.

In 2010 and beyond, the American people have the opportunity to send a different message, a different signal: Let’s take back the Victory Mosque, formerly known as the White House, in 2012. The more we can do between now and then, the better.
