LOS ANGELES, May 1, 2012 —Jessica Simpson is officially a mom!

Simpson gave birth to a daughter named Maxwell Drew Johnson in Los Angeles on Tuesday, said publicist Lauren Auslander.

“We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received,” Simpson said in a statement on her website. “This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!”

The baby girl, weighing 9 lbs. 13 ounces, is the first child for Simpson and former NFL player Eric Johnson. After just six months of dating, the couple became engaged in November of 2010.  Simpson, 31, and Johnson, 32, got engaged in November 2010. While Simpson recently said Johnson, “feels like my husband already” on a recent appearance of Jimmy Kimmel, fans speculate that weddings won’t be too far off.

The baby’s name is said to be a tribute to the happy couple’s families. Maxwell is Johnson’s middle name and mother’s maiden name and Drew is Simpson’s mother’s maiden name.

The Dukes of Hazzard actress was married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2005. Simpson was more recently attached to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo from 2007 to 2009.

Nick Lachey is expecting his first child with current wife, Vanessa Lachey. Tony Romo and wife, Candace Crawford, recently gave birth to a baby boy on April 9.
