WASHINGTON, August 28, 2012 — We knew it was too good to be true: Newt Gingrich had no role at the Republican Convention. How that must have bruised his tender ego since we all know that Newt Gingrich lives for the spotlight and since the primaries ended he has been on the sidelines, twiddling his political thumbs.
But Newt is back and in full force. Watch out, Hurricane Isaac. When the Newt is unharnessed, he is a force of nature.
For those Republicans and media types hankering for more Newt Gingrich, you can get a full dose by attending Newt U (that is what it is called), a special series of workshops for delegates to support, understand and then expound the message of the convention. Professor Newt Gingrich will host Newt U, diving into the daily themes of the Convention in great detail and motivating attendees to plumb the depths of Republican thinking.
Each class is open to credentialed convention media, activists, delegates, and party officials at the Republican Convention. Each class will be held at different “campus” each day in Tampa, sometimes at the Hyatt Regency and other days at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort or the Wyndam Tampa West Shore. Just pick your day and your campus. Or attend all four.
Fortunately, there will be other “teachers” at the podium as well ranging from Callista Gingrich (of course!) and U.S. Senator Mike Lee (Utah) to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and Larry Kudlow, host of CNBC’s “The Kudlow Report.”
Republicans and the media are encouraged to attend all the two-hour sessions to become better-versed in GOP policy.
